You can start a medical marijuana business.

In California, Medical Marijuana Stores or Medical Cannabis Dispensaries are nothing new. They’ve been around since 1996, when California passed legislation making medical marijuana legal. Prior to 2016, you may start a medical marijuana dispensary in California by following city and/or county regulations.
However, California currently has two new licencing laws that control the marijuana industry. The Medical Cannabis Regulation and Safety Act, which was passed on September 11, 2015, is the first. This new law establishes a new regulatory framework that governs all elements of medical marijuana cultivation and distribution. On January 1, 2016, the law entered into effect.

California’s Proposition 64, also known as the “Control, Regulate, and Tax Adult Use of Marijuana Act,” was passed by 64 percent of California voters in 2016 and took effect on November 9, 2016. The “Adult Use of Marijuana Act” is another name for the statute. California’s recreational marijuana cultivation and sale are governed by this statute.
Both Acts require various aspects of the marijuana industry to be licenced, with a full licencing framework to be available by January 1, 2018. Under these legislation, many licence categories are available, including those connected to various aspects of the marijuana industry, such as manufacturing, testing, dispensary or retail store, distribution, and transporter. You may find more information at Dispensary.

The sale, production, and production of marijuana will be regulated by three licencing agencies. These organisations are listed below: 1) The Department of Consumer Affairs issues licences for marijuana retail sales; 2) The Department of Food and Agriculture issues licences for marijuana cultivation; and 3) The Department of Public Health issues permits for marijuana production and testing.

Your new marijuana business, whether it’s a medical marijuana dispensary or a recreational adult-use marijuana retail store, will want to understand the application procedure for these new licences to get ahead of the competition. New restrictions and a new licence application process are expected to be published on the California Department of Consumer Affairs’ website. The new Bureau of Marijuana Control is a new sub-agency of the Department of Consumer Affairs that will issue retail sale and dispensary permits. This division of the Department of Consumer Affairs does not yet have a website or webpages available outlining the new licencing requirements at the time of writing.
