They’re also an excellent source of window insulation, keeping your home cool in the summer and warm in the winter. Plantation shutters of exceptional quality, like any other home investment, would add long-term value and increase appreciation. Composite Wood, Real Wood, Vinyl, and Poly are only a few of the options for window shutters.  Window Shutters Winchester

Composite wood shutters combine the richness and warmth of real wood shutters with the strength and reliability of composite plantation shutters. They’ll go well with your family’s active lifestyle because they’re scratch resistant, humidity resistant, and washable, making them less susceptible to environmental effects. They are difficult to tell apart from real wooden plantation shutters since they are made of a special wooden composite material, typically MDF. The sizes of the louvres vary from 1 7/8″ to 4 1/2″. Typically, they are only available in white shades, but a few manufacturers do sell wood tone colours. Since the composite material sags when stretched out, individual panels should only be 30″ to 34″ tall.

Basswood, Poplar, Pine, Western Red Cedar, and Knotty or Choose Alder are the most popular woods used to make real wood plantation shutters. They can be made to order with a variety of framing materials, painted or stained finishes, and louvre sizes ranging from 1 1/4″ to 5 1/2″. Since real wood is lighter and more durable than composite, larger single panels of 36″ to 50″ wide can be made. Real wood, unlike some other types of window shutters, is not ideal for high humidity areas.

Plantation shutters made of vinyl are a low-maintenance choice. They’re tough, and they’re easy to clean, which is ideal for families with small children. They also do well in challenging conditions, such as high-humidity zones. Louvers come in three sizes: 2 1/2″, 3 1/2″, and 4 1/2″. Through the use of aluminium reinforcing rods on the inside, they can be made in wider widths. Since the components of these window shutters are hollow, they require caps to cover the ends of the components. For a lot of people, this is unappealing.
